“I can't say how much fun it has been to work with Barry and Sharon. I started out doing one room and have done three more – and a bathroom. I have loved what has been picked out and how easy they are to work with.”

Q. How would you describe your style of interior design and how you’re different?
A. In a word: “clean” versus flashy or cluttered. We like to mix contemporary with traditional but do both ends of the spectrum. Our work is eclectic, and we love to incorporate art and unusual things into the mix. Please take a look at our portfolio of rooms to get a better idea.

Q. What if I have no idea right now of what I want in my home, but I know I need help. How can you HELP?
A. Not to worry – you’re hardly alone! Actually, you know a lot more than you think but maybe need some encouragement to articulate your preferences. We’ll take you through catalogs and have you look at magazines to help pinpoint a direction. Once that is in place it becomes a fun process for both you, the client, and us as the designer. We love to work with clients who are willing to think out-of-the-box.

Q. Do you only provide design services for complete homes?
A. We do everything from complete homes – to complete rooms – or parts of rooms. It really depends on what you need. Read more about our Interior Design Services.

Q. At what point do you get involved in an interior design project?
A. Whenever you think you want a new look for any part of your home surroundings – which is sometimes as early as the initial thought that you may want to build a new house. Read more about our Interior Design Services.

Q. What if I’m interested in talking to you about a project for our home?
A. Please give us a call at 615-460-1200, and as appropriate, we’ll set up a time for you to talk with a designer at our Green Hills store or your home – whichever is the most convenient for you.

Q. How should I go about choosing an interior designer?
A. See a portfolio of their work. Ask for references. Call their references. Be comfortable with them personally, with their work, how they work and how they are compensated. We welcome your questions by phone, email, or in person.

Q. How do you price your services?
A. Our prices vary according to the scope of work. If a home is being built, our fee is usually an hourly with a cap. If the home is built and we are furnishing it, then it is on a retail-less-percentage basis. Or a combination. We want the best for you while being fairly compensated for our work.

Q. Do I have to be an interior designer or design client to buy items in your store?
A. Definitely not. We do work with registered, accredited interior designers through our store on a professional basis, but our current customers and people who simply walk in our store in Green Hills are the mainstream of our business. Please visit us Monday-Friday, 8:30AM to 5:00PM and Saturday 10:00-3:00 PM. No appointment is needed.

Q. What is the price range of the items in your store?
A. We have books as low as $5 each and furnishings (home furniture, lamps, etc) that are many thousand dollars apiece. The majority of our gifts and accessories are in the $50-$500 range. A lot of our art – art glass, raku, cloisonné, paintings, etc. are one-of-a-kind items. All are of exceptionally high quality.

Q. Do you sell your items online?
A. Our www.bwilker.com web site does not currently have an e-commerce function to enter your credit card online to purchase our store items. But you can browse the items in our online store and call or send us an email, and we’ll be glad to take your order by phone during store hours Mon-Fri 8:30AM-5:00PM and Sat 10:00AM-3:00PM.

Q. What are your shipping charges for ordering out of your area?
A. They obviously vary depending on the size and weight of the shipment and your location. A sofa can be $45-$75, but it also depends on where it is coming from. Most of our furniture vendors are located in North Carolina, and we have an arrangement with a freight line that delivers at a great price. We’ll get you a quote for any item you’re interested in.

Q. If I’m not a current design client, can I only buy items that are in your store?
A. Our store is an eclectic mix of items for anyone walking in (or viewing online) – and certainly our design clients. But we can also order among thousands of other home furnishings (including furniture, lighting, custom drapery, trim, wall coverings, rugs, etc.) if you are interested in something in particular. So no, you do not have to be a design client to purchase other items.

Q. Where are most of your clients?
A. Virtually all are now in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area. We still do a few projects out of the area.

Q. Do you provide commercial interior design services– as well as residential interior design?
A. We do some commercial design on a limited basis, and our commercial work is typically on the higher end.
